4 door hatchback for £3-4K..whats the option.

My colleague has asked me what car he can have for £3-4K......criterias:

1. 4 door..possibly hatchback
2. Economical...diesel or petrol
3. Relatively new..<5-6yrs old
4. Cheap insurance as he only pass test.
5. Reliable

I am only into all the cars that don't fullfill his criteria...those that do fit his criteria, I don't know how good they are.

My first suggestion it usually a VW Polo, Kia's, Ford Fiesta etc.

Can anybody suggest anything else and link to classify if available.

A budget of 3-4k and has to only be 5 years old? Going to be very hard to find something worth buying in that bracket. Tell them to go a bit older and get a Golf/Bora tdi, reliable, economical, cheapish to insure and good resale value. whats not to like.
