Does anyone have experience with super car hire?
Discussion
As it turns out this year, I don't have anything exciting to make the annual run down to Le Mans in, and have been looking at hiring something to use.
I can get something like a 360, DB9 for sensible 'ish' money and the hire company agrees it would be ok to take it to Le Mans.
My concern is, there is a big deposit and I am wondering how fussy the companies are who make these hires, because losing this would make it a
very expensive week!
I am not suggested I would drive it like tw*t or in any way not look after it, but after going in my own ferrari a few years ago, i know a 1000mile journey takes its toll.
If anyone has any experiences good or bad, I would appreciate advise.
Thanks.

I did some searching for the cheapest prices a few weeks back for my father.. I think you're looking at 1k+ for a basic 360 or v8 vantage..
Haven't used anyone before though and I can imagine them looking for any signs of wear.. I wonder what they will be like with tires for instance

Very fussy I should think!very expensive week!
I doubt they would allow use out of the UK, you would need that special dvla form mentioned in the le mans thread if you don't own the car, and would you really trust leaving it at the circuit parked?
I hired a 997 when they were first out from PCH in North London.
It is a big deposit and excess with all of them as far as I am aware. I believe mine was either £3500 or £4000 for the weekend.
Also, when you say the price is reasonable, have you taken into account the excess mileage charges?
Most of them have a limited mileage of 150 miles per day (figure plucked out of thin air but it definitely doesnt get you to LeMans and back) and quite high charges per mile thereafter (roughly quivalent to the same breakdown of £ per mile in the original hire).
WIth regards to how brutal they are on picking up wear and tear on your return- I suspect it varies completely from company to company. I know PCH barely looked twice at it and refund me easily enoguh.
