I'd like to do a poll on this purely out of interest but don't know how to set one up. How much did your car cost VS your annual wage as a percentage i.e. car was £15k wage £30k = 50%

This is what you car actually cost you when you bought it rather than current value or price when new versus your wage at the time.

75% (poor student wink) Paid in cash, in full.

Somebody make the man a poll before we need Rainman to work this out...

My Mother is 200%, incidentally.

37.9%

I assume this thread is more 'out of interest' than anything else? As measuring a capital payment (car purchase) vs. revenue income (salary) is pretty pointless - but could give some interesting figures nonetheless...

Previous car, 42%.

Current car (together with 50% drop in salary as I'm currently back at uni and on placement year) - 50%.

Car value is 10% of current annual salary.

Note - Car was paid for in cash, upfront.

Might be worth stating whether your car is paid for, or financed, as surely this makes a massive difference.

I doubt many people will have figues of > 50% on cars that are paid for up-front...?

Just 2%, but that's sadly because I subscribe to the bangernomics school of thought rather than because I earn a wage akin to a small African nations GDP.
