1999 Mercedes C-Class 180 info?

There's a C-Class 180 1999MY around the corner from me up for sale at £995. Now, it's a private sale and just parked by the side of the road - and obviously still being regularly used. I've had a sneaky look around it. No rot in the arches, and fairly clean, bar a few marks. It's charcoal / dark grey in colour, has 112,000 on the clock and one of the rear tyres is a bit close to the limit. The board in the window says it comes with 7 months MOT and the tax is due at the end of June.

I know the 180 will be underpowered, but I'm only going to be using it around town etc... if I were to get it. I'm going to have a proper look at it tonight (have spoken with the current owner, an older gent) and obviously I know all the general things to look out for. Anything in specific?

Worth a punt? Or a moneypit?

In my experience the 180 isn't even that slow, even as an auto.

Got it for £780 in the end after a cheeky offer of £750 originally - can't be bad!

I've never driven a car that rides quite like this one... it's almost surreal. I've not really had anything worth noting before though!
