I am sure this will get ripped...but I love the MX5 with a decent sports exhaust on.

Get that nice Japanese rasp when using the higher revs, with the roof down it is a great soundtrack!

I have, but none online Amazingly the TR7 sounds nothing like the z28. And despite running the same engine as a TVR Chim it sounds nothing like them either. Will have to try and get some vids of it.

whats the power of the tr7? or has it not been dyno'd

It went on a dyno a good number of years ago. 220-230hp flywheel est (think about 180-190rwhp). Humble by today's standards, but not too bad for a 3.5 Rover.

I think the power is about right, it'll out run a 231 RX-8 and an earlier Z4 3.0 I also had a decent blast against a DC5 ITR. The Teg had an exhaust, but don't know if anything else.

It was close, the Teg was the quicker but only by a car length or so.

I've considered everything at one time or another.

I'm really fond of the car having owned them since 1999 and this one since Jan 2001. Done a lot of miles in them as dailys and they are a lot of fun.

But I've never quite been happy with the poke of mine, always wanted more. Then I busted an axle and parked it up and bought the Camaro instead. Lot faster straight out of the box.

But over the past 2 years I've been re-tinkering with the TR7 again. It's the prohibitive cost of getting more power. It currently runs a Weber 500cfm carb and high lift cam, plus some works rally spec long tube exhaust headers. Forced induction would probably work better with twin SU's if sticking to carb or ideally EFI like Megasquirt.

Have also looked at doing a h/c 4.6 transplant. Not as much power as a turbo. But I think 280+ is possible with a heft mid and low range hike in torque and HP over the 3.5

My other interest and I've been keeping an eye on a chap in New Zealand, is a Lexus LS400 4.0 DOHC V8 swap. An instant 270-300hp upgrade. But a fair chunk of work.

I keep too'ing and fro'ing about keeping or selling it and getting something smaller and bike powered maybe (Fisher Fury type of thing).

I like using the car for club level competition events, but some events don't allow V8's and it's a wee bit noisy for some too.

the lexus idea seems good but a bike engine would bve a bit to small i reccon bike engine are more mini/ metro conversions..
how much is the ls400 engine?
