Buying MOT failures and re-selling.
Discussion
I was just curious as to how many people on here buy and sell banger cars. I know a couple of people that buy cars from auction/ mot failures and repair them and sell them on, does anybody on here do this?
What sort of cars are best to do this? I would have thought it would be learner cars such as saxo's, 106's etc?
Any thoughts on the subject appreciated.

The Wheeler Dealer TV lot seem to make more profit on more expensive rarer cars and classics than on the bread and butter stuff. I'd think if you were looking for fast turn around the little shopping cars would be easy to buy and sell and easy to get parts for but have a much smaller margin for profit.
They made a seriously good profit on a Lotus Esprit on one I watched recently. With all cars you'll need to get lucky with the purchase.

I have done a few times. Nothing wrong with it and I have made a small amount of money from it over the years. Personally I wouldnt buy anything with rust problems structual or not
If its good enough to pass an mot after the work then its just as good as any other car on the road
Yer, I dont see anything wrong with it, some people do. If its good enough to pass an mot after the work then its just as good as any other car on the road

Yer, I thought that might be something to progress to after building up some experience and revenue, and to be honest a fast turn around is what I'm after, I'm not sure if I'm being naive or not but I was just thinking of buying a common car that has failed on things I could fix myself. Just thought it would be a nice way to make a few beer tokens off each car and get some experience when I'm not at uni. They made a seriously good profit on a Lotus Esprit on one I watched recently. I think I might just get a 200 quid example and give it a go, if worst comes to worst I can sell a few bits and weigh the rest in.
