Her car ( V40 estate ) exploded the other night so she is now looking for a new one.

I have said a 1.8 vectra estate, or diesel with more miles ( I currently have the petrol one ), found a few with 30-60k for £3-4k.

I have found a Citroen c5 estate diesel with 60k for 2.5k, few around those figures.

Any recommendations ? she has a dog and will trash it quite quickley, looking for reliability mainly and cost second. She has been recommended a Octavia by her friend and wants one of those but she is lookign at 70-90k for £4-6k which I don;t think she needs to spend.

She is based down in Swanage in dorset

A Volvo V70 D5 would be the obvious choice, surely?

I like them, dad has one but with nearly 150k on the clock I don;t think it is value for money compared to the others, vectra with 30k and 5 years old could be had for £400 more.

The astra are nice but again they are very popular and larger cars are available with better spec and same milage for similar or less money.

Did you have anything to do with your Mother In Law's car exploding? If the police raided your garage right now would they find large quantities of Semtex and a copy of the Anarchists Cookbook?

Recent major service, brand new tyres and front pads and disks. 11 months taxs and MOT until Jan 31st 2012. So it's good to go!

Although it's a bit far to travel from Dorest.
