not bothered about running costs as it's a stop gap until a much nicer car arrives but it needs to be:

1. suitable for a man which rules out a mini for example
2. easy to sell on which rules out an RX8 I think?
3. not too old and suitable enough to pull up to an office in
4. half decent fun
5. money wish around 4k ish but give or take a bit really
6. ideally not a 2 seater which rules out the mx5.

The Megane 225 seems quite good for 4k ish but suggestions welcome

Fabia VRS? Fun to drive then when you come to sell it its still a small diesel car, which everyone wants.

Something boring and run of the mill. Ford focus, fiesta etc. If its a stop gap it doesn't need to be interesting.

There are some bmw 3 series out there but will have quite a bit of mileage on the upside they still look smart and you can shift them quite easily.

Anything that fits that brief would be easy to sell, just buy the car right and you can't fail.
