does it connect straight away as soon as you start the car or do you need bluetooth switched on all the time??

also is the parrot a good piece of kit, any feedback good or bad would be great

These are great - I've used one for years. You will need to have Bluetooth switched on on your phone for it to work but it synchronises everytime without fail. It also syncs your contacts so thy you can make calls directly from the display.

Decent kit, I had a MKi9200 and before that a CK3000. The MKi9200 worked perfectly but the CK3000 wouldn't do voice control because it doesn't send your contacts list to the device. According to Parrot's website the CK3100 also doesn't do this. I think you can add numbers manually though.

Having said that, this made the CK3000 difficult to use because it didn't have a visual phonebook and dialling could only be done from the phone (kind of defeats the object of handsfree).

Personally, I'd save up for the MKi9100 instead as it looks nicer smile

It's meant to work that way but there is a reason that it doesn't work like that on the iPhone (Apple's fault not Parrot's). As I said, you can add them manually, it's a bit of a pain but doesn't take too long.

Odd - I have the CK3000's in the Trooper and MX5 ( I think that is the one, no screen, right?)
Whilst it doesn't have the screen / sync thing, a tap of the Green button, and voice activated Dialling works bang on all the time, even with the roof down. It is a lot more discreet too.

Can't fault em - can't comment wrt Iphones though.
Yeah but I'm a spaz! wink

I have one in my car and I think its great.

You need to leave your bluetooth on all the time, but as soon as I switch on my ignition, my phones connects to the parrot straight away everytime.

Im sure it does work with the 3GS, but depends what software your iphone has and hat firmware the parrot is using. If you google "Parrot CK3100 iPhone 3GS" it gives mixed results.

Hope that helps smile

Don't get me wrong, if I was going to add handsfree to a car, regardless of which mobile I had, then it would be a Parrot.

I had a CK3000 I transferred between cars, then got a CK3200LS which I left in one car, and then got a CK3100. The 3100 is the best of the lot. Worked with all the phones I've had (iPhone 3, Nokia X6, Nokia C3, HTC Desire and Motorola Defy).

I've got one and think it is a steaming pile of poo!

Bought one in January and it worked for about 1 month. After that it would work occasionally but 90% of the time the other person couldn't hear me. Just replaced the screen and the unit for a new one and the same problem from day 1. This is with three different phones as well so don't believe it is a compatability issue with the bluetooth stack in my phones (tried new phones, old phones, etc.). It works for about the first five minutes you turn it on. But when you test the mic using keywords etc. it does work so the mic itself is fine.

However, it does sync etc. well but useless for me as I can't make or receive calls.

Bear in mind if you do need support Parrot are appalling. I bought mine from Halfords and when I took it back Parrot basically refuse to believe there is a fault and so won't issue an RMA to Halfords. This in turn means Halfords are reluctant to do anything as they can't return it to Parrot for a refund/exchange. Its all to do with the way the contracts are setup between Halfords and Parrot. Took me about 6 visits to Halfords before the guy there swapped it. They just keep telling you to do software updates which means bluetoothing to it etc. Mine was already running the latest software so it made no difference.

Also the CK3100 is end of life now. No new software has been released since 2009 and there is a new version which links to iPODs etc. giving playback facilities (although uses the amp in the Parrot box as opposed to the car amp).

Personally I will never touch another Parrot kit due to the support should something go wrong.

In fact do you want to buy it ;-) It still has the protective wrapping etc. on it as i am thinking of cutting my loses and flogging it on ebay or something.

I suspect you or whoever installed it is an idiot.

I have had them in the last five cars.
Even put one in the Range Rover as its handsfree was pants.
I have the next one up in a Disco streams the iPod from the phone too.
They work really well when correctly installed.

that is harsh ;-) I do have some idiotic tendencies though!

Anyway the installation has been checked multiple times (to be fair it is only ISO plugs so pretty hard to mess up. The fact that it works briefly and then the other party can no longer hear you doesn't point to an installation issue (it would either work or it wouldn't) and the unit contiues to respond as normal. Immediately after a problem with a call if you test the mic (recording a keyword etc.) it works indicating that there is not a physical connection issue. Therefore I can only put it down to software (either phone or Parrot, but as I have tried 3 different phones I believe it is a Parrot issue)

The only other thing I have left to try is plugging the mic into the socket on the screen instead of the connection on the screen/control unit (I just haven't had time to strip it out to test). If that gives the same results its going in the bin.

.
I would recommend that you speak to Parrot's UK technical team if you have a problem with your kit as that is definitely not normal for a Parrot kit - 0844 472 2360

Also, the CK3100 (which btw is not sold in Halfords), is definitely not end of life. I heard that from parrot directly.
