What to look for when buying a VW Polo?
Discussion
Hello people,
My sister is looking to buy a VW Polo in the next few weeks and I was wondering what sort of things she needs to look out for apart from the obvious i.e service history.
She has been looking at some X reg cars and is quite interested in this one http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...
Any help would be great

Electrical faults are a big issue. My mum had an S reg Polo from new and after about four years she had to get rid of it because of an electrical issue the dealer couldn't resolve. Sometimes the indicators would stop working until she called someone out or took it to the garage, then they would work again. The whole indicator mechanism was replaced and then she got stranded in a rainstorm because the indicators and wipers together stopped working. She lost faith in the car and decided it wasn't worth spending money on so got rid of it. Turn the engine on and off a few times and try all the switches each time to make sure they always work.
