Wanted - used (broken) vehicle electronics

Chaps - I'm involved with a research group which is interested in vehicle electronics. We're particularly keen to get a good range of ECUs and instrument clusters which we can look at - especially for odometers. If you have anything you would be willing to donate, please could you email me via PH with details of what you have and I'll make arrangements to get it brought to the unit.

do you know what's up with it? Almost certanily going to be an easy fix tbh!!


to the OP, annoyingly you're a bit late, as a month ago i had a clear out and chucked out a load of ECU's and stuff, including some "analogue" engine control units, which are incredible to look at these days compared to say an EDC17 pcb !!

It's unlikely to be repaired, unless we need to do that to extract the data we need from it.

Ah, i see. You'd struggle to carry out any meaningful data mining from an analogue ecu....... ;-)


I assume you are trying to establish exactly what data is "recorded" by what node in a modern car?

I've got an old EGR control ecu from a landrover 300TDi but that probably has less info in it then my dishwasher

Most ECU's need coding to the car so are pretty cheap if you take them out yourself.
