Looking to swap cars at the moment Did a Glasses valuation on the Vauxhall site. My car has quite a few desirable extras and is in great nick, so took the top trade in price as a guideline.

Rang a main dealer to talk to them about my part-ex against a car they have in stock. He went away to do some research, and came back quoting me a part-ex value of about 60% of what Glasses said.

I know values are subjective, Glasses is by definition a guide, but is this a bit of a piss take?

He probably just doesn't want your trade-in. Either you'll decide to sell elsewhere and go ahead without a trade-in, or he'll get it so cheap he can dispose of it very quickly and still make something on it.

What is the car exactly that you have??

Bad new is I have the June glasses guide in front of me and mundane cars like 08 Mondeos have dropped £800-900! Huge drops accross the board.

£7325 in May's CAP. I find the six cylinder BMW Coupe/Convertibles hard work unless they are the 330 that maybe the reason for the low bid - the wheels detract if anything but the leather should add a bit in redress

How can they unless you bought the stock today? Any stock bought last month and still owned in another month will look overpriced frown

If I have 50 cars on my pitch and they have dropped an average of 500 each, its bad news frown

Glasses saying usual stuff really, downturn in demand, bank hoidays one after another, also auction houses clogged up with over priced dealer part exchanges that dealers are unwilling/unable to take todays money for....chances are they gave too much in swop to do a deal, and dont want to show the loss to their head office!!

Thanks again, much appreciated. I know times are tough but I just can't take 5.5k (or anywhere near) for it then.

Come on now, you'd love a convertible. Just imagine it, wind in your hair, your favourite gal on your arm. Go on, you know you want it.

June CAP clean is 7550 and 7025 for average. So a £200 uplift from May due to seasonality.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Pedro, much appreciated. £200 rise May -> June. Presume that's the effect that summer has on convertible prices?

Now is the time thats for sure. When I sold my Saab Cab in May (albeit 6 yrs ago) the cash price (I was selling up to fund a business) he offered was valid for 2 months, he knew he'd sell it all day long as long as the sun was out. I sold it privately for more but not much more. I've now got another convertible as a second car and I'd forgotten how great they are.

You might find your 325 is a bit old for some dealers so they'll factor in risk of what they'll get at auction.

Thread hi-jacking slightly but could some kind soul give me a CAP price for an 03 330d saloon. 6sp gear manual 204bhp SE with leather. 76k with full main dealer BMW service history (2003 upated model).

Sorry for being cheeky - I think the Mrs wants too much for it.
