Buying a car which is already on finance

Anybody ever purchased a car from another person and they have the car on finance?

watchdog did a segment on this recently. Even if you get a HPI check, some people are able to take out Asset-based loans using their car. if they don't pay it off, the company is able to take your car away on a trailer. without you knowing. DVLA give the full details them.

So you directly rung the finance company and paid it straight off?
Sounds easier than all the thoughts and worries that were spinning round in my head.

It was pretty straight forward. Seller gave me the details of the finance agremeent (I had already HPId the bike so knew who it was financed with). I called them and sorted out payment, recevied letter from them stating finance settled. Happy days
