Hi,

Well my dad has been looking at buying a Westfield and we hope on getting a Zetec.I have a very nice car, low miles etc etc etc... It has the 1.8 litre zetec ford engine, and I was wondering what sort of power could it produce from tuning. I dont mean supercharging or turbo charging as this can very expensive and the car becoming a bit tempremental. So what im asking is, is that is there any cheap...ish tuning that can boost the performance of the car

Great engine, I have a 1.8 Zetec, produces 170-180hp and is extremely reliable, wasn't cheap to put together though!

Upgrades are as follows:

Scholar gas flowed head with Kent FZ1802 Camshafts and vernier pulleys
ARP bottom end bolts
ST170 Inlet manifold & injectors
GSXR750 Throttle-bodies
ITG Air filter
Dunnell baffled sump
Westfield stainless exhaust manifold
Re-packable silencer
1ltr alloy oil catch tank
Lightweight alternator
Megasquirt engine management, fully re-programmable

Cheapest way to get extra BHP would be to trade it in for a 2ltr. Silvertop Zetecs are a couple of hundred quid at best - anything you add to your 1800 to increase power will be more than the cost difference between the two engines.

I agree with the 2litre zetecs being the way to go, engines are relatively cheap now seen some around £900.
If your father fancies something other then a westfield, I would suggest http://pistonheads.com/sales/2777131.htm may be worth investigating.
