cheap clio 172 has come up near me , and i would quite like a change from the ZT, but it has 135k on the clock....... mileage doesn't bother me a great deal normally and we've had a few french cars before, but a 172's more likely to have led a harder life........... so is it worth a punt or just walk away?
got good history , don't know about cam belt though....

Depends how 'cheap'
I've looked into them and been advised to for under 90K miles with FSH other wise it isn't really worth it, they seem to go for around 2K good condition cars with recent cambelt/aux belt changed.
it's about £1700 with fsh one owner etc....might just hang on for a bit longerI've looked into them and been advised to for under 90K miles with FSH other wise it isn't really worth it, they seem to go for around 2K good condition cars with recent cambelt/aux belt changed.
Mileage won't be a problem if it's been well maintained, if no proof of belts being changed then budget £500 to get them done. I'd imagine it's maybe worth £1200, can get one for around £2k with sub 100k on the clock these days. Edit - just seen your post that it's a one owner with full history, if that includes the belts changed then maybe take a punt and offer £1500 in that case.

By those miles it should have had or be due its second cam and aux belt change, also the suspension won't be as sharp as when the car was new so that could be due a refresh. Lots of choice under £2k though so don't rush to buy the first one you see.
