How easy is it to fit genuine Xenon lights to a car that didn't have them fitted at the factory...I'm not talking about after market bulb kits but genuine Xenons

Cheers

Fitting the lights is the easy part. Getting the auto leveling system to work and headlight washers working is a major arse ache. IMO, its not worth the hassle. Either buy it with it already installed or live with halogens.

To get them to be legal? Fairly difficult

You need them to comply with the regulations which includes projector lenses (may have already), self levellers, and headlamp washers.

Do you mean to replace the existing headlight unit (the whole thing) with a factory Xenon system? Not very hard, but very expensive even second hand and not worth it. Granted, I loved having Xenons on my Audi and have not loved any light since then, but doing so on a used car is not really worth it, IMO.

It depends on the car.

Just get a cheapo Chinese set off ebay and live with the knowledge you are a trivial lawbreaker.

As long as you fit normal bulbs at mot time you're fine...

It would be actual headlight replacements not bulbs..theres sets on ebay for £70 so pretty cheap and at that price worth doing. Is any addition wiring needed?

Yes, lots.

OE xenons have to have a self-levelling system fitted, which means wiring looms, angle sensors on axles, all sorts of difficult and expensive bits. And washers. If you don't have washers fitted you'll have to get those, too. And then coding to make them work how they should.

To do it properly, I honestly wouldn't expect much change from £1000, more on a premium brand car.

Those sets are not OEM, made in China crap. I meant actual new or used sets, which are big $$$ most times.
