The tyre has been losing pressure quite a bit, and I've found this bend on the inside of the wheel.

Does this kind of damage repair easily?

Thanks.

Looks expensive as it looks like the inner wheel has been buckled. The outer lips can be rolled back round to fix them but this is pretty much impossible on the inner of the wheel. I buckled one like this hitting a half brick that fell off the back of a skip lorry, trawled everywhere to get it fixed ended up buying a replacement wheel as no one would touch it.

Aye, let's not worry about hidden cracks. What's the worst thing that can happen..?

Hagon engineering fix cast motorcycle wheels, so I can't see why you couldn't do the same with a car wheel.

Called a refurb place I've used before (TWS) and they've have passed me onto Sheldons of Manchester.

They say it shouldn't be a problem, pending inspection that is.

I'd say it can, but given the missions/costs perhaps a decent straight second-hand item from ebay would be a better/more practical bet.

I've just dropped off one with a worse dent than that on both the outer and inner rims. Specialist in Wycombe called Alloy Weld (I think). Pick it up Thurs, he didn't forsee any problems straightening mine.

Do you know what the cost is going to be?

If you do, never buy with tyres on.

I made the mistake of doing so once - when the tyre was removed and the wheel checked on the balancer it was clear it was knackered. Cue more hassle than it was worth with vendor blaming courier, yet being happy to take wheel back if returned in original condition, tyre place refusing to refit (bald/dangerous) tyre, etc...

I've had a dink like that sorted out.

£80 and a few hours and it was as good as new.

If cracks on dinked wheels were such a big issue, then there would be a much higher incidence of wheels falling in pieces.

I now have a round wheel again, thanks to Sheldons of Manchester.

For the record, it cost £50.

I am pleased.

That's a good rate of pay for 5 minutes work with a block of wood and a large hammer.

hehe

My brother used to do that on wheels when he got dinks.

I took one of my Z4 18" wheels to Ian Jemison at York for a dink sorting. He wouldn't let me see his trade secret technique, developed over 20 years of alloy repair, but to me it sounded just like my brother when he used to straighten wheels with a hammer and various shaped pieces of wood hehe
