Right, few questions on behalf of someone at work:

He has a 2002 BMW 320D, and wants to upgrade the headunit to a Sony one he has from a previous car, but wants to know:

  • If he can keep his steering controls
  • If the OEM 6cd changer will still work
The headunit is a Sony CDX-F7750S:

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks

Answer to second ? is definately NO. Only a Sony changer will work with a Sony h/u.

First ? is no also, unless the Sony h/u has socket for a wired Sony remote in the back, then it maybe possible with an additional adapter lead.

ETA;

It does have wired remote socket on the back and therefore can be used with the S/W control with an additional adapter lead.

As already said, CD changer won't work but he has a CD player built into the headunit and most are now iPod compatible! Who uses CD's these days.

Other advice is that the standard speakers are turd, I changed front speakers and amped them from a small 2 channel amp under the passenger seat when I had my E46.

The is above is what I seem to remember anyway!
