New to this site - hope I can help

HI, first post on this site.

I am not exactly a PistonHead but do have certain knowledge which many may benefit from.

I’ve spent the last 12+ years as an observer and for the last 6 years, senior observer for the IAM Leicester group

I passed my first driving test (late 70s) in a 7.5 tonne truck and it was 3 years before I got to drive a car.
What was the HGV class 1, I passed in 1988
Car advanced passed in 1997
LGV advanced passed in 1998
All driving tests passed first time without having any nerves at all – I think I am abnormal!
I have my own driving assessed yearly by either IAM observers or examiners.

From 1988 to 2004 I was a LGV (HGV) driver
From 2005 to 2008 I was LGV instructing.
I have been unemployed for the last 3 years due to not being able to find a job that will accommodate my bad back and at age 53 that is not good!
Luckily this does not affect my driving in any way.

I have a good knowledge of the rules around towing with B & B+E vehicles as well as tachograph rules, the Driver CPC, licence issues and civilian advanced driving.

I am not proclaiming to be an ‘expert’ in any of the above but I am prepared to part with any factual knowledge and not guess.
