Hello all,

As I am going downhill now being 30 this year (only kidding, really couldn't care less!) what is the best driving experience out there? I would really like to have a go in a mixture of cars but defo a good single seater and would be nice to throw in a Ferrari or McLaren or Audi R8 or whatever.

Thanks all, any info much appreciated.

I rate Everyman Racing. Jonathan Palmer Motorsport is absolute top dog though, if you can afford it! You might be better off on the trackdays forum....

Jonathan Palmer.

If you can't afford it yet, save up instead of doing it half ar5ed.

This one is a slightly different but well worth a try as it is amazing fun and great value with plenty of time in the car. The rally experience at Haynes motor museum.

They'll teach you to drive a rally Subaru sideways round the course, lots of power sliding and learning car control, balancing the car on the throttle. Plus good fun eg using the handbrake to get the car turned in for hairpins.

Lots of time in the car and amazing value only £165 for a half day.

Located near Yeovill which is an hour an a bit from the M25/M3 junction.

I did Everyman racing. Was good, drove an Audi R8 and Ferrari 355. Was a good mix between the Ferrari which didn't even have ABS to the Audi which is basically a computer on wheels.

Palmer one seems to be just for corporates? No mention (that I can see) for individuals to go and book

I did a Palmersport day last year. Absolutely brilliant. No rev limits. Just crazy instructors pushing your foot down on the loud pedal. Everything was top notch. Even the catering.

I am pretty certain individuals can do it as there were a few on my day last year.

6th Gear Experience.......PHer's on here......

Just google them, book, and GO!

They need NO introductions....their company, attitudes and cars are THE best!

Yep - 6th Gear are very good. I've been to 2 experiences with them now at their Kenilworth venue. It's very well organised, all the staff and instructors are very friendly and they have a great selection of cars all in good shape! They make sure you get your moneys worth too and help encourage you to build you up to giving the car a bit of a thrash smile

Highly reccommended.

This.
The most expensive, but far and away the best, and if you work out track time per minute it's by far the best value as well.

If you want something cheap, Groupon London are doing 3 laps in 3 supercars at Dunsfold for £125.

Might be fun, if not Palmersport brilliant!

Another vote for Palmersport - you can book a half day in either morning, afternoon or evening which is about 10 times the track time of 'normal' events. I was knackered after the afternoon (M3, Caterham, Clio and 911 - all track prepped, internal roll cages, sequential boxes, etc etc.) so you definitely get your money's worth.

Expensive but infinitely better value for money

Think I have decided the Palmersport looking at the cars and the comments about the instructors, having never driven more than my bosses BMW 530 I really wanted wings and things.

I will chip in a bit but hey you are only 30 once!

You wont regret it. One of the most professional outfits Ive ever met.

Instructors shouting at you to SPEED UP !

Brilliant day.

I still remember the feeling driving the Clios and 911s in light rain with the instructor pushing you harder and harder around the corners until you spin...fantastic fun!

Man. I was looking at the Palmersport website recently and desperately trying to find a spare five ton somewhere to do a half-day, but you guys are just encouraging me more and more. I'd heard from a couple that it was brilliant, but that sort of thing often depends on the instructor you get on the day. But here's everyone saying they're fantastic, so..

I'm just going to HAVE to go biggrin

Another recomendation for 6th gear, just did one a couple of weeks back which was abit crap. The instructer was great and recomended 6th gear to me when I said I was abit disapointed. I've decided that when my bonus comes from in december i am going to trwat myself to a palmer sport half day or whatever as they are by far the most mentioned and recomended to me.
