Chris Harris to get Porsche 4.0 GT3 RS
Discussion
The jammy get! Got a build date of July, according to his Twitter stream, and, quote, 'plans to keep it for as long as I can humanly afford too'.
Sigh, the life of a car journalist eh? It's 6am, I can't sleep and now I'm lying in bed envious too.
Top work Chris, hope you enjoy it...we know you'll drive it correctly!
Does anyone expect these cars to depreciate at all by the way?

Depends if they've been owned by well-known mentalist drivers, I suppose. I like reading his stuff, but I'd not buy a used car from him if you know what I mean!Sigh, the life of a car journalist eh? It's 6am, I can't sleep and now I'm lying in bed envious too.

I don't know. From what I have noticed, journalists mainly tend to be 'mentalist' drivers when in manufacturer owned cars. C
From what I have seen, it would appear that the writers in EVO who own their cars look after them quite well.
RM has the somewhat underused 964RS.
JB has that V8 Capri.
NT has the Clio V6.
They are three cars I would be happy to own and I don't expect I'll see any of them 'getting air' anytime soon.
I am sure that CH will look after the RS4.0 very well, but with journalists always having the opportunity to try even tastier metal, I wouldn't expect him to keep it as long as he probably intends at the moment.
Good luck to him. I look forward to his reports.

I don't know, he is a huge Porschephile... Good luck to him. I look forward to his reports.

Indeed he is, but I remember not that long ago he built the most amazing green 911.
ST looks. 3.4L with a G50 gearbox. Amazing hand finished interior with the leather covered cage. STUNNING.
It was one if the most beautiful and technically interesting (to me) 911s I have ever seen and at the time Chris wrote something to the effect that when he was behind the wheel, there was no other car on the road that would make him jealous. Well, I'm not the jealous type, but that 911 made me jealous and I would take it over the RS4.0 any day.

If the world was level headed and sensible I'd say the 4.0RS would go up in value. It will more than likely be the best 911 ever made. However what with the hysteria over petrol prices, however absurd, I think this could have an effect accross the board. So no idea is the answer.
It will be the best 911 until the next "best 911". Probably the next GT3. olly22n said:
Google chris harris, drift and m5. That's his car!
Fair enough!

I think this one has classic written all over it IMHO.Sneaky Schnell said:

Does the hysteria over petrol prices affect someone who can afford a 4.0RS or such like? I think not.Definately set for strong residuals that one I reckon.

pleased for him, but where the hell does he get his cash?!!
I would imagine he is earning in excess of £150k pa plus any investments plus his partners salary also doesn't he own or part own his current magazine so he will get a share of the profits let's say that could mean his bonus could be 100% again. Also maybe he is compromising elsewhere to be able to spend here. Ie maybe he isn't saving up to pay for his kids university fees or is putting less aside for pension and is more living fr the moment. Who knows it's his choice provided he isn't leveraging himself too far

He'as just bought a Phase 1 RS and spent a fortune on a fancy exhaust and new suspension - this seems an odd thing to do really!?
Just speculating but did he actually pay (full price) for that exhaust? Lots of free advertising in the magazine via the features, almost made me cringe reading it. wmg100 said:
