Just about to rebuild the engine from our Fiat 500, have decided to invest in an engine stand, as the Fiat is only a tiny engine I was thinking I can get away with the smallest stand,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jack-Sealey-Engine-Stand-3...

It says 350 KG capacity, they go up in increments of 100 Kilos, surely 350 kilos would cover the block, pistons, crank and head of any engine I am ever likely to want to rebuild at home, even V8's dont generally way a 1/3rd of a tonne do they ?

350kg will be plenty to hold, but you may need to consider more if you're working on it. I.e. if you end up jumping up and down on the end of a socket to undo the crank bolt, then you may end up putting more than 350kg through it.

The 350kg will be more than adequate,I`ve had in line 6`s and RV8`s on my 350kg stands, and given them the beans.

Begs the question, what is the 750 KG one for, something out of a Scania ?
