After owning my 996 Turbo for almost 5 years, I have today waved it goodbye. It was a 2002 car with 70,000 miles and had been moderately tweaked to 530bhp. I was the third owner and it has been truly epic having made numerous trips to the 'Ring, the Swiss Alps and LM amongst others.
I have toyed about changing it almost every year with things like R8's GT-R's or even a newer 911. However after playing around in one a few weeks ago and especially after a few laps of the 'Ring in one a couple of weeks ago I have bought a new Megane RS250. It is an absolute hoot to drive and after 12 years in RWD/AWD cars it is fun being in a FWD car again.
I intend to do many more trackdays in this one than I did in the 911 and once I have it remapped, new intercooler, exhaust etc I doubt it will be no slouch.
However the question is stil going round in my head "Am I mad?"

Maybe.
On the other hand, going from something that costs a reasonable amount to run to something that costs buttons can bring a sense of relief. Personally, I think I'd have tried an R26.R if I was getting a Megane but ultimately, they're all just cars - if you buy one and decide you don't like it, just sell it and get a different one!

yes... the novelty will wear off
this, maybe.sometimes its more fun to drive a car on its limit, rather than having a car you are rarely able to reach its limits?
Oh well I can always go back in a year.

Including depreciation? I think not! On the other hand, going from something that costs a reasonable amount to run to something that costs buttons can bring a sense of relief.
