Got a new head unit for the M3 (owner kept the last one) and while its OK, ot sounds "weak". There is no depth so it sounds a bit tinny. There are 2 speakers in the footwell and 2 in the rear door cards and 2 little 1" things in the rear door cards as well. I was thinking new speakers.

So I got home early and took them out. They look like good ones, Alpine 400watt peak and 40 somethiong else????

Anyway, after working out how to use and set up the stereo (Pioneer cheapie) it does sound better, but is still lacking "depth" though, so whats the answer?

I am not a music person like some, but i would like something that can be heard OK!

There is a cable going into the spare wheel well, that has connectors like these on the end-

Anyone know what they are for? I thought a "woofer", but is that what I need?

I would prefer the boot space!

Thanks

Have you messed about with the tone settings and looked for a "loud" button on the new head unit?
Yes, thats what i managed to do this afternoon-did the bass and terble etc as well as the "loud" to hi, so it is better, but still weak.

My Volvo company car stereo is loads better, so was just wondering if I needed to replace whatever was in the boot before.

Does the depth of sound return if you fade the sound to the left or right? This would point to polarizing (one speaker wired the opposite way to the rest)
