Best way to sell a car?

I am currently selling my Mondeo, and since I have never privately sold a car before I think I could do with some advice!

It is currently on here and one of the Ford owners clubs, but the problem is that it is up in Inverness so I think I am selling to a relatively limited market.

So, where else should I put it up for sale? Any tips on what to do, or not to do?

Any advice at all would be much appreciated

I've sold a few cars through eBay and never had any trouble, and always got a price I was happy with via a 7 day auction. Personally for anything sub £2k and common I'd just stick it up on eBay and see what happens - obviously classifieds for rarer/more expensive stuff.

If you are in a hurry then e-bay or autotrader/exchange and mart (though expect some time wasters)

I've always tended to get the most interest from ebay adverts. Yes you have to wade through the emails and stupid questions from terminally thick mongs, most of which you don't even dignify with an answer or response, but you are still reaching out to a massive amount of genuine potential buyers.

Are you planning to buy another car? Considered trading it in?

Obviously you won't get the best price for it, but you'll get the car you want and a general lack of hassle in return.

Nothing worse, I find, than the awkward gulf between selling a car privately and trying to find a replacement.

To be fair, you're best off to make a funky video which ends up looking like your misses is being slipped a length by a guy with loads of tatts and piercings...but is actually just cleaning some bird st...

As you seem to have a limited market/area try all the local papers first ? Try some adverts in shop windows too ?

Good plan! It is going into Scot-Ads on the 18th, and might see about shop windows later today.

What about putting a notice in the window and leaving it in Tesco car park all day?
