Hi

I went to view the above yesterday. The car was immaculate with low miles and a great price. However, something smelt bad so I left and did some Internet research when I got home. Turns out the seller was a very well know stunt driver who may be called Paul. He didn't actually lie during our meeting but failed to mention that the car had been used as part of his show. I post this in the hope that anyone viewing a grey gunmetal focus st2 in Darlington is aware of this. Some may be happy for the right price as the car is in brilliant condition on the surface but I'd rather a seller told me that he was a famous stunt driver and not leave me to work this out on Google. Call me old fashioned.

If you know anyone viewing such a car in Darlington then warn them. There will not be 2 5 door 59 plate STs for sale in grey. If interested you can locate this car on eBay and Auto Trader. Look for anything priced at just under £13k.

If you want to see the same car in action Google ST2 stunt paul look at the uTube results. This is the car being sold as driven by the wife!

Cheers

I like how you can see the numberplate on the video and on the autotrader ad. Rather cheeky describing it as "LIKE BRAND NEW" when it has lived a life stickered up and having its tits thrashed off round a car park.

Some might say of course that most STs have spent their life being thrapped round a maccyd's carpark, how is this one different... getmecoat

But they'd be totally wrong unless you honestly believe most 17-20 year olds can a) afford an ST, b) afford to fuel it, c) insure it.

The bigger concern was the history that might have been a bit made up (I have no proof just a suspicion) and I was buying it for the 18 months Ford Warranty that I rather suspect was not valid.

Still, it was mint with very clean oil but I agree with the last poster. It's my job to try and pass on what I know so if someone buys with their eyes open fine but I'd be gutted to not know and then have the truth pointed out.

What's a bit odd is that this guy is very well known so surely his cars are free so why is he doing this?

I should say I did write to the sellers eBay account telling him what I knew. I have covered off eBay, Autotrader and Darlington Trading Standards so I'm not being sneaky. He can pull the car or change the description. I think he thought I was an idiot buyer.....

Strange reply...surely if you yourself had paid your hard earned for this car, only to find it had been thoroughly thrashed by a "STUNT DRIVER"and then a fellow forum member said "I could have told you that."I am sure you would not have been best pleased. Many times on this forum when people offer such help or advice, members post seemingly offering some defence or protection to the seller.
The seller is a friend of a friend and the few times I have met him he has been an honest decent bloke who doesn't deserve to be accused of misleading people on a forum without the opportunity to defend his-self.

I can't find this car for sale now so it looks like the adverts may have been pulled.

Fine then ask him to post and explain the car I saw and why it is being thrashed on utube. I'm guessing you can't deny it's the same car and that he does not mention this in his ad. I agree he appeared very decent but surely that's the art of a good con. And yes the car was perfect ( on the surface). A couple small points.....he's not telling the truth and he's a trade seller posing as private. He did not have the v5 which might have given him away.

I guess you can't try and help some folk and I should just be glad I didn't get conned and laugh at the sucker who does????

Yep, looks like it has gone. I wonder if eBay pulled or the seller??? I hope it's not being driven home right now by the proud owner......

No one has said he's done anything wrong. He's not legally bound to tell you anything about the car.

The OP is just doing the general population a favour by ensuring they are able to buy the car with their eyes open.

Might even get the car sold better with the extra publicity and showing people what it's capable of!

Stunt driver eh? Only fair to assume the said car had a hard life.

Thx Robb F. I concur although suspect posing as an average Joe when you own a stunt company and having limited service history while not illegal is naughty. You know if he'd been honest and lopped a few grand off the price........well, it did sound nice compared to my Disco 3. Remember I didn't buy te car or leave a deposit but would feel bad for someone who has stretched their finances to buy this "mint" car. Anyway, my hunt for an "honest" ST2 continues. What I love is that when I first used to buy cars this would have been impossible.....thanks be for the mighty interweb.

It's not so much the 'stunt driver' that would worry me, more the inept punters doing handbrake and j-turns...
