Am i being too strict with my search?

Im in the market for a fairly reliable, fast(ish), large and luxury 4 door for around about £9k.

Having had an e39 528i for the past 12 months, it was not in the least fast, 8.8sec to 60? and the ABS went so expensive repair.

I have looked at the A8 4.0tdi (favorite) 735 and MB E320.

Anything else i might be missing?

PS doesn't have to be German!

The Pet/Diesel question is a good one

Im a project manager in the COnstruction ind. so every day communte is 35 miles there and back, however potential sites ae popping up further a field, so 100 miles in a day wouldn't be un-achievable.

I guess Diesel would be better, but petrol just for the better noise

An auto, I assume as my manual is more like 7.5s.

Any modern car with modern electronics is going to be expensive to fix if something major goes wrong. It's about being lucky.

Yeh i haven't seen any M sports manuals on the 2.8 variant, i did look!

The CLS's around £10k are all CLS500's which is not practical (yet)

I'll hold out for a 4tdi A8, seems there are enough pre 100k mileage ones about for 8-9k

Mine's only an SE, but does have the M-Sport suspension, so best of both worlds.

300C is a good shout. Its strange, because i will still be keeping my son on the policy, i have a higher premium to pay insurance wise.

How on earth is almost a 6litre V8 cheaper to insure with him on it than a tiny BMW 125i sport.

Even if the BM is faster

I couldnt get 10 mpg out of mine the best i saw was 9.6 mpg

Curently driving the same era 5 series, would make driving that 735i feel the same, well visually anyway.

The interior is almost identical (minus the TV/nav)

The only question i would have left to ask, is if i decided scrap the diesel idea and go for a 4.2 A8, would it be better to get a 80-90k mileage one as opposed to a 60k, knowing the cambelt will have had to have been changed?

It weights about 10 tonnes and look at the aerodynamics.

low stressed... it only put out 350hp

that can be increased by a lot more though
