costs of private plate

A friend was telling me the other day he has to pay £90 per year to maintain ownership of his plate... What an absolute ripoff this is from some dodgey third party company. Go direct with the DVLA or don't bother at all is the best advice I can give. If you do go elsewhere, make sure you read the small print!

Also should have added, it get's quite costly if you change your car often... I've spent the best part of £600 during the past few years purely in plate transfers.R0G said:

It's only a one of payment if you assign within a year, there is a £25 annual fee to keep it on tetention although they do give you options to retain for 2-3 years for a slightly higher payment.You should also remember the initial payment of around £105 to put a plate on retention for a year includes the £80 assignment fee
