Windscreen wiper linkage

Hi all, just spent two hours in the pouring rain attepting to fix my wiper linkage on my Corsa C. one linkage is loose as a goose, the other has taken a can of WD and half a can of my prized Plus gas and it still wont free off (will rotate back at normal speeds as usual before it was stuck solid, but the spindle wont release down so i can clear out what ever is blocking it). has anyone had similar problems on any cars or got any tips on how to remove the spindle, its becomeing a weekly pain.

Had a couple of Audis recently where you couldn't easily remove the motor/linkage assembly. Removed the wiper arms and the circlip & washer which held the spindle into the alloy housing and ran the motor whilst lubricating the spindle. Eventually we were able to push it down a bit and put the wiper nut on loosly and used a pair of mole grips on the nut to pull it up and push it down, whilst the motor was running.

A few cycles of that and it freed up nicely, worked plenty of grease into it and it was fixed.

You'll need to remove the wiper assembly to strip it down properly. Once it's out there is a small circlip at the wiper arm end. Remove that and then you can press the spindle out. Scrub any rust etc away, regrease and re assemble (not forgetting to replace the circlip)

Or go and get some Rain-X substitute (not Rain-X unless you want to support BRAKE and their anti-car agenda).

wiper assebly stripped down circlip off and o-ring. passanger side spindle is free'd up and moves easily, driver side wont shift up and down the assembly, had the motor running, braced the linkage with some wood and hit it repeatedly with a nylon hammer, but still it wont shift :/ any other ideas?
