Halfords 150 piece Pro Socket Set

Considering how overpriced Halfords are for most stuff (especially if you don't have a trade card), this socket set makes me feel like I'm ripp(speed) ing them off.

75p per item and it feels like it will last forever, indeed its lifetime guaranteed. I've actually got it open on my lounge rug right now as its so tactile and aesthetically pleasing. I wish I had soemthing to dismantle. I think the mountain bike might get it.

keep your receipt safe, there getting more an more hard to get replacements for broken bits without receipts

Halfords pro stuff is pretty excellent - the key is to buy it whenever it is on offer, which is like 6 days a week.

How do they compare to Teng? I have a few Halfords professional - but I would like to build up a really good kit when I finally get a garage, and no way do I have the money for snap-on (which I have heard are overrated, but this may well be rubbish!).

Ditto - paid £100 for mine. A lot of AF sockets that I will never use though, would have preferred some hex sockets in 3/8 & 1/4in drive flavours...

Halfords always has things at a good price on their site somewhere..

bought this for £35 or so a month or so back.. pretty good bargain. Gone up to 45 now though..

I've got a 90 piece Halfords pro socket set. Doesn't get seriously heavy use but I must say it feels very solid compared to the other stuff I've used. Weakest part about it is the case it's kept in

Had one for 3 years now.

Snapped some of the torex drivers with a 24" breaker bar, replaced no issue.

Use it several times a week every week, some of the ratchits are getting a little notchy but all in for the price its bloomin excellent. The last 3 years would have been hell without it.

The OH bought me one of these a few years back and the receipt slowly faded until it became just a plain white till roll again, i spoke to Halfords and explained it had gone like this and asked if they could do me another one so i had proof of purchace but i was told it was not needed and if any broken tools were taken back they would replace them without the receipt................

I bought the slightly cheaper £60(£120 when not on offer) version and a set of Clarke Pro spanners from machine mart the other week to change my struts over

My parents bought me one for my Birthday probably 8 years ago, still going strong and it's had some abuse. Great piece of kit!

I bought the 99 piece one a few years back and have to say some of it takes quite a bearing so far and nothing has given way! Except the case lock things... those are absolutely naff!

They're pretty good kits, most things you need in there. Get them with quidco for a few quid off

As a utter hater of cheap tools i will admit i have a few halfrauds pro stuff but mostly Teng which i find pretty impressive apart from a few things which are crap.

Teng shifters are garbage compared to BACHO stuff

Sorry guys but would not touch halfords pro sockets with a ten foot pole, yes they look lovely and shiney with their chrome coating, just wait till your taking cams out of an engine and you chip off that lovely chrome and it dissapears. Yes with all the will of god you try and cover all galleries but take it from me it can still dissapear, plus using this stuff day in day no chance and i would not trust my knuckles to them.

Yes you allways pay more for the better brands snap-on/mac etc but after being on the tools for over 15 years my money is on snap-on, just ask most mechs in the dealers and i bet 9 out of 10 will all use snap-on

I'd be pretty disappointed if my mechanic didn't use snap on/mac tools etc.

But for home use, simple tasks like replacing consumables, they are fine!
