Advice needed - Not a what car thread, PROMISE

My car is currently in a garage having some work done. (suspension, re-spray, service and mot)

The garage has had the car for a few weeks now and I have been told that I'll get her back in the 1st week of July. Was originaly told 23rd May, but there have been a few issues.

Anyway...

My tax is due at the end of the month so was about to renew but thought I'd check when the MOT was due, first.

The MOT was up on the 08th June.

So I can't tax the car until it has an MOT and the MOT won't be done until the car has been serviced etc...

What should I do, I'm sure if I don't buy the tax before the 30th then I'll get a fine from the DVLA

Then once the garage says the car is ready, I can go online and buy the tax disc?

Okay, well i've emailed the DVLA so i'll wait to see what they say.

I want to try and avoid the SORN process as it's a PITA (not that i've done it before)

However, it doesn't seem like i have much of a choice.

Sorn it online, easy as, then new MOT, and tax it online, can be done in 5 minutes and easier than emailing the rather useless DVLA
