Hi all,

I need to remove the center console for a Chevy Kalos to respray the silver bit for a friend.

By the looks of it I have to take out the head unit then the second din and it probably clips out from their but I have never done one before so don't know.

Does anyone have any experince?

Its the silver panel with the heater dials on it.

I will be going to his so need to know if I require any extra tools as well.

Thanks,
Damian.

Have you tried prying it off?

I've not taken that dash apart, but on most cars you start from the top remove everything until you get down to the bit you wanted to take off in the first place.

Haven't tried yet. I have a half hour window tomorrow in which to get it out. That is what I would normally go with but I didnt want to give it ago and snap it.

You will need torx drives (probably)

Some plastic trim panel removers (as in trim panel removers made of plastic) would help pry some bits off without damaging the dash, or wrap a cloth around the screwdriver a few times.

It will take at least two hours if you have to take the whole centre console out, and you may need to get hold of some radio removal tools. You will also break something.

Have fun.

This. Considering he wants to sell it, I can't imagine you are adding much to its value by respraying that little bit, and you could take away value if something breaks. Hardly seems worth all that effort.
