Who puts their lights on during daytime for safety?

After seeing this thread on another forum ( link here) I'm wondering if anyone else is one of these types of people who excuses driving with their lights on claiming to do it for safety.
I understand there is a safety aspect to it, hence why bikes have had to have DRLs for years and cars more recently, but driving around with your dipped beam on during the day is unnecessary and makes you look like a retard/chav, does it not?
It wasn't until recently people would flash me on my scooter because of my DRLs, seems part of society these days.
So PH, do you drive around with your dipped beam on to ensure your own safety?

The Volvo has them on anyway.
I put the dips on when driving the Caterham as despite it being bright yellow and loud, I've had people SMIDSY me many times so anything that might help people see me (especially SUVs where the top of the Caterham rollbar is still below their window-line) is good.

It's law in Canada.- Not you as in you but you as in a person. To clear that up.
ETA - I drive with the A5 DRLs on. It does make a difference with less people pulling out in front on me.

If it's gloomy because of heavy rain, or you are entering a patch of road where there is limited light and the eye can take a while to adapt to the low light (ie a road with a thick overhead tree canopy) then it can be worth flicking on sidelights or dipped beam, more to be seen than to see. That's why drl's became mandatory.

k. What's the problem with having dipped beams on during the day? It's not as though they dazzle anyone like fog lights can do. I don't do it but given that this weekend I had three incidents where other drivers failed to see me coming in a bright yellow car then I don't blame some drivers for doing everything they can to be seen.

I think this is a good rule of thumb for daytime use. I think many drivers (especially of grey cars) only feel the need to put their lights on "at night time" when they can't see.
