Snotters that aren't?

Was behind an old Sierra Estate today (G reg, 1.6 or something badge on the back) - thought "don't see many of those around, nice snotter"
Then I clocked the gauge pods mounted on the dash, suggesting all is not quite as it seems
Anyone got any examples of cars they've owned or seen that are percieved as old snotters but are in fact something very different?

Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but the stands were near the middle of the car, so it did actually lift the back end up, it did have lower than standard springs in it.

It was kind of fun, especially the disbeleiving comments the 316 badge often got!
It had some prety good suspension, a Z3 steering rack and gear lever, audi TT front brake discs with E38 7-Series calipers, thicker anti roll bars, limited slip diff etc.
Even on half decent Bridgestones, in the wet, it would spin the wheels in 4th gear at 80mph.
It was a lot of hassle though, I ended up breaking it up for parts last year.
To be honest I think it was more fun when I had it as a normally aspirated 3.5 litre, but hey-ho, it seemed like a good idea at the time!
Oh, and it made the front cover story of Total BMW magazine in November 2009!

Thanks, alas it is no more, though.I bought it as a fairly tatty 325i, I'd already stripped an E34 535i by then ready to swap the engine and gearbox into it.
I thought I'd invented that conversion, until I found the site E30Zone, and found out that people had been doing it since about 1985, haha!
The turbo kit came later and was mostly made up of parts from Toby Unna's car (from PPC Magazine) and swapped into mine.
It was running Megasquirt engine management, but I never got on with that and it spoiled a lot of the enjoyment I got from the car.
I loved the way it looked and drove on these wheels - before the turbo and bigger brakes and wheels were fitted;
The engine bay was tidier too;
With big wheels and brakes;
The photos actually make it look quite tidy, it was really rather tatty!
I can't find some of the photos I was looking for, and the on-track ones are too big a file size to upload, unfortunately.

My current snotter.
Looks like any old Audi 80, but underneath has the factory sports package, forged wishbones, lowered Bilstein suspension, big brakes etc. Although it's got a very lively engine it's the handling that makes the car it's just so well balanced, has regularly shocked quicker stuff.
Sadly looking for a new home soon. The lure of the Stuttgart Stallion is too great again.

Around the same time that I had the E30 I also had this:
It was a drunken Ebay purchase at £550, with an M.O.T. !
It was very discreet as few people knew what it was, and it looked like a Cortina, or Hyundai Stella or something!
I bought it to compete in the first PPC Magazine £999 Challenge (buy / build / modify the fastest car possible for less than a grand), which was superb fun.
After fitting two R5 GT Turbo intercoolers and cranking the boost (amongst other mods and repaired / removed parts).
It became known as the Maserusty and utterly bombed its next M.O.T., alas it joined the E30 in the great garage in the sky.
