Well, I still don't want a 911, though I could have told you that before watching any video. I don't think I will ever lust after any Porsche, except a Carrera GT.

Those guys in the M5 were amusing though, I couldn't help but think they were seconds away from disaster at any point, then they spun it. I had to laugh when the passenger said "That was a good spin"; really? A good one?

I would love a 911 but, it would not be a turbo S. Especially a PDK one.
This video has not changed that but it was an impressive display of traction and massive grunt.

Huh what??? So a 911 2 door 4wd coupe gets a flyer off the line and the m5 4 door rwd saloon starts rolling a couple of seconds late in cold and presumably damp conditions and that makes the porsche stunningly desirable??

Not really sure that i should be suprised that a 4wd turbo car can "beat" a rwd one being driven by a complete numpty?? I wouldn't let that M5 driver take me to the shops let alone around a track !

That wasn't my point. More a case of what an astonishing launch it had, which is normally hard to put into context when done independently, or even in tandem with say a GT-R. The fact that it puts such a distance between itself and a 500BHP supercar just goes to show what an engineering masterpiece it really is.

there are other cars, including other 911's that I would have in preference, probably none of which could match that display off the line

My brother had 911 turbo (1997 model dont know the model number as im not a fan) very quick handled very well.

Seen a few million on and off the road in my time.

personally IMHO very good cars rapid and well screwed together............... but with nothing special about them at all just like the 50 I saw yesterday or the 50 I will see tomorrow.
Im not going to be taking it to the track every weekend to test it against a GTR etc I just pefer something that has a bit more character (IMO) and doesnt look like every other version made since the sixties
