Dunkirk to Rimini, Italy avoiding some tolls

Hello all.
I am concidering a car trip from Dunkirk to Rimini, Italy.
I want to avoid some tolls.
I know some toll roads are worth using, and some are not worth using to a degree.
Should I just use Google Maps, and follow their suggestion?
France, Belguim, Lux, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy.
If I tick the box to "Avoid tolls", journey time increases from about 13,5 hours to about 18,5 h.
So clearly, some tolls should be used, but which ones?

From memory - the switzerland bit isn't some much a toll rather a "14 mth pass" to use any of the roads and if you go thro it it's unavoidableI am concidering a car trip from Dunkirk to Rimini, Italy.

Having said that it was worth it just for the tunnels
Last time I went to Umbria I did all the way thro France sans tolls and the only toll I paid was for the swiss leg
Can't remember paying any tolls in Italy - but it was a while back

Didnt know Austria did a vignette.
Last time i went to Italy i went via Ring then down to Innsbruck Austria,
was going to go to Stelvio ,but didnt.
Driving into Italy on the A22 Brennero road even at peak time on a Monday morning
was pure pleasure ,a 2 lane motorway and all the trucks kept to lane 1 and all the cars
passed in lane 2 at 70-80.That road leads straight into Modena and Maranello

The killer is pulling a trailer, as it needs a vignette for each vehicle.
I know that if you don't use the certain roads in Switzerland, then you don't need th vignette.
However I see it as unavoidable to go any where in Switzerland without going on the highways.
It wouldn't be so bad, but you have to buy a full year , ie, a full 12 months, which to me stinks.
They come to our UK roads, we don't charge them, why do they charge us?
At least for Austria, they sell, 10 days, 1 month, 2 months etc, which I feel is much more fair.
So perhaps the trip will run the "north to south of Germany, then Austria and Italy.
Ideas?

Actualy if you purchase one now you only get 8 mthsI know that if you don't use the certain roads in Switzerland, then you don't need th vignette.

Friday....Full day at work
Friday night...Ferry to Calais
Saturday.Early....drive to Sliders guesthouse Dollendorf,couple of hours sleep in car on the way
Saturday pm.....lap of the ring,just 1 ,its raining
Sunday am.....drive to Stuttgart,Porsche museum and Munich,BMW
Sunday pm .....drive to other side of Innsbruck Austria ,sleep in service area[in car]
Monday am.....drive to Italy,stop at Maranello for Galleria Ferrari[3rd visit]
Monday pm....drive down SS12[sort of A road]to village outside of Lucca ,staying in my sisters

As a Brit living in Luxembourg, you can certainly get from Dunkirk into Lux then into Germany or France without paying any tolls. However, if you want to go through Germany to get to Italy you can only avoid buying a Swiss vignette if you cross their border not using a motorway, e.g. at Basel. However, if you're caught without a vignette in Switzerland using their motorways, you'll be fined.In Germany, vehicles under 3,5 ton, are not tolled.

Going via Austria, you'll need a vignette too.... quite why Austria has them when they're part of the E.U., I don't know ....
Without adding about 5 or 6 hours to your driving time, you'll need to pay SOME tolls. I know it's not nice, but it's possible if you select your route as such in SatNav or using viamichelin.com.
I feel your pain - we recently took 2 cars to the west coast of France so I could continue straight on to Le Mans. That cost me a total of EUR320 in tolls in the last 3 weeks. *sobs*
