Quick 'veg or salad' car choice question

Considering 2 possible cars at the moment.

Seat Exeo TDI - reason being - far cheaper than A4 and Passat for very little quality difference.

or

BMW 3-Series 318d/320d - just because i like 'em!

So, £15k budget,

2010 10 plate SEAT Exeo 2.0 TDI SE/Sport spec Saloon or Estate, with 15k on it

or

2008 08 or 58 plate BMW 318d or 320d SE or M-Sport spec, saloon or estate, with 40k on it

Bear in mind i do circa 20-23k per year so a 2008 car with 40k on it is soon going to be around the 100k mark after 3 yrs or so.

Buy an older low mileage E46 330D ...... will be far more entertaining and not a massive difference in MPG.

Seat for me.

If only because you'll have 2 years of manufacturer's warranty left, whereas the BMW will be either out of warranty, or be covered under an aftermarket / 'approved used' warranty.

Go for the 3 series. M-Sport spec is more expensive but worth the extra money. Oh and the dervs do good mileage. If you could try to stretch to atleast a 325d. The 6 cylinder engine is much better.

Oh and don't need to worry about doing a lot of miles in them. They are built for mile munching.

A bit more would get you an early LCI version.

Depending on how much you could stretch you could get a 58ish LCI version.

Oh and the petrol ones will be cheaper but will do less miles per tank.

But gotta be the 3 series.

I'd imagine you'd lose less money on the BMW so given the choice of two fairly dull cars you might as well make it a sensible one financially.

I like the Exeo, but its not a patch on an E90 3-series. Although SEAT have done a good job with it, its origins date back the 2000 B6 Audi A4 and it shows.
