Evening All - just a quick question....

Our insurance renewal came through today for the wife's car at an 80% increase. (Peugeot 206 GLX 16V X reg) I was a named driver on the policy, and in December, I got caught out on a icy incline. I slid backwards and turned 180 degrees, from stationary, and clipped a parked 07 Ford C-Max. I knocked on doors to find the owner, and gave my details etc. What I can't understand is that the damage in the picture above is how they paid out £3,100 for repairs? There was no-one in the car at the time, so no injury claims? How can this amount to over £3K?. As we are looking for other quotes, we are declaring this claim amount in our information, which is impacting on our quotes?

£400 repair, £2600 to the 'accident management' company?

Depends how long the car took to repair you have to factor in the replacement car for the time the cmax was being repaired.

Our Disco got run into the back of earlier this year, damage was rear bumper, fog light and step. The car value was no more than £1000 at best. Our car insurance company could not get us another disco while ours was at the garage so sent over a brand new Porsche Cayenne at a charge to the insurance company for £350/day. This way dropped off on the friday as the disco was due collection then, this date changed because the garage screwed up and was collected on the tuesday. So the time we had the Cayenne already out weighed the value of our damaged car before ours had even left to be repaired.

Although i will not moan as it was nice having a new car for 10 days it seems very strange the way insurance companies could not care less what is billed for as they will just up your premium silly figures next time due.

The insurance company will have all the details, ask for them?
