Hands up, who likes land yachts? barges?

Ok everyone likes a good sports car

But for me there is always going to be a special place in my heart for complete boats like the MK1 Skoda Superb I used to drive.

It was long, very long. It had not-for-girls steering and suspension so soft I got motion sickness after atempting to hustle it down a B-road. Elephant up a fire escape comes to mind... the handling stopped just short of being hilarious.

But then get it on the motorway and it just used to waft effortlessly. The big seats and squidgy suspension cossetted you from bumps and the absurd length meant everyone, even in the back had enough room to relax as you floated serenely down the road. And you did float.... at 90mph you reach this odd state where the suspension feels completely detached from the car.

Who else here has a soft spot for big, wallowy barges like the Superb, Jags, big Lexus, old rovers and of course anything old and american with a caddy badge on it. Care to post any you've owned or do still own?

Just bought an XJS, an awesome waftmobile.

Probably the 'wallowyist' barge I had was a Rover P5B Coupe, lovely to look at, but made you sea-sick and broke down every time you'd try and get somewhere in it. Defeating the object of being a car, really.

Yeah had that seasick feeling before. Had to pull over and just get some air... 70mph on a B-road in a bouncy castle.

Just bought a P38 RR V8. Completely changes your driving style. Love it. I feel no urge to go quickly in it (probably a good thing).

Had a few, most notably my E38 740i.

Fancied something bigger though, so I've since moved over to the more 'commercial' stuff and bought an oil tanker instead.

With electronically adjustable suspension and a mildly tuned 230 BHP on tap it was waftastic on the motorway and surprisingly spritely round the bends.

Sadly no more as it was totalled a week after I sold it.
