To be honest the diesel just isn't worth the extra outlay unless you have a high annual mileage.

Requirements are simply hauling me and the mrs around town and the occasional longer trip.
Just wondering if the extra torque in the smoker is going to be useful really.

If you're thinking kids, definitely touring. Buggies + paraphernalia takes up a huge amount of space.

If extra torque is what you are after then a 540i will do very nicely

Lovely car, easily enough power for day to day use and tons of space in the back which I think you'll regret if you get the saloon and have kids.

Thought about the Stagea, but its a fugly car, whichever way you cut it.
Really like the e39 saloon shape. I'd have to take a good look at a touring.

I've had both saloon and touring, currently back in a saloon, and it has to be said the saloon rides better, and has better NVH.

Though the touring is hugely practical (obviously) and using the pop-up rear window is a joy forever.

I think I remember seeing a four door R33 Skyline in the classifieds.

It's not a powerhouse but it's not expensive. Spend the remainder on stuffing an RB in it.
