Mk1 Golf Gti Vs Mk2 Golf Gti.

Looking to maybe buy either a Mk1 or Mk2 Gti, and I can't really make my mind up. I have around 3,000 for the car. Was wondering if anybody on here would be able to help on making a decision. It seems most people have owned a Golf Gti in their time!

Had both and whilst the mk1 is the purer car I would have the mk2 16v given the choice. Its far easier to live with on a day to day basis and something actually happens when you press the brake pedal. If you do opt for a mk1 I would suggest uprating the brakes be your first port of call.
