Should this indicator/hazard circuit work, as as far as i can tell, it should, but im not getting a single flicker!

Looks right to me, but I make no claim to be an expert.

I assume you mean the bulbs aren't lighting, not that they aren't flashing? First thing I'd try, would be to bypass the flasher units so you've just got a simple on-off circuit; then if you still have no voltage at the bulb, you can chase the live around with a multimeter.

Are you using flasher units as those terminal numbers look more like a simple relay than a flasher unit? What actually happens, lighgts come on and stay on or nothing at all?

The circuit all makes sense. I suspect your problem is with the relay but I can't find any indicator-relay wiring diagrams. You are using indicator relays rather than just a normal relay aren't you? Are there only 3 spades on the relay? If there are 4 you may find you need to bridge the 4th to a live feed.

You may need to buy a couple of THESE.

According to CBS, the third wire goes to your dash light, not earth.

and yes im just getting nothing from the lights.
i don't have a multimeter, but my voltmeter (which lights up at 12V) is saying no power is coming out of the relay.

but i will bypass the relay now, to check the wiring of the lights.

just tryed bypassing the relay, and all the lights lit up.


but thought i would see what happens if i swapped the earth on pin 31 to a live, and they are flashing.

so ive got it working by having a live in pin 31, live in pin 87, then from 87A to indicator switch.

this can't be right surely? why would it need 2 lives?

Those relays are fine, but the numbering on them doesn't match your diagram. Any ISO relay with pins marked 30, 87, 87a is a changeover (typically for headlamp beam change). Flashers should have the 31,49,49a shown on the VWP diagram.

marshalla you are right, they are 49/49A i must of confused with a normal relay when i made the diagram.


but am i fine using 31+49 as live, and then 49A to indicator?

i don't want to do any damage/start a fire Etc, but it seems the only way they work?

31 should be earthed, 49 should be +ve supply and 49a should go through switch to lamp as per your diagram.

If 31 and 49 are both connected to supply, then there shouldn't be any voltage present to drive the timer.

Can you test the relays on their own (battery, bulb, a few bits of wire) ?

id just fitted it back together, and it no longer worked, how i had it.

so tryed switching it back around to how it should be (31 to earth), and how i originally had it, and its now working.

i fking hate electrics!

lets just hope they stay working, and that these electrical pixies don't go and move things around lol
