Number plate retention

Just realised my number plate retention lapsed 3 weeks ago. Anyone had this happen and successfully managed to continue retention with DVLA, or can I kiss it goodbye?

Happened to me (but c 12 years ago) phoned the cherished number section and all was well.

We let ours lapse a couple of weeks ago, went to the local office with all the paperwork as I thought I might get further speaking to a person, and they said not to worry, sent it off and the new certificate came through about a week later.

I just sent the payment apologised for the slight delay and got a new retention certificate - wasn't a problem at all

I was probably 2 months over the due date - I forget exactly

Thanks for the comments. Phoned DVLA today and they've said providing I post a cheque quickly it shouldn't be a problem
