Need to tax car - no V5, no reminder!

Might have dropped a booboo here. I sorn'd my car a few months ago and I've posted off my V5 to the DVLA this week to notify them of a colour change.

I'm off to pick the car up on 1st July and I want to tax it (its still insured and has valid MOT)

Website says I need a reference number off the V5.

Any way round this?

Can't think of one but I've always had good advice when I've phoned the DVLA, they may know a way round the problem?

You can tax it with the bit of paper that's left behind when you send off the V5, and a V10 form which you get from the Post Office.

erm.....I sent the whole V5 document in lol. I'll give them a bell tomorrow! Maybe they will be quick with the new V5 hopefully.

I would go to your nearest offer. The phone line are completely useless and i must of rang on 4 different occasions and after 7-10 minutes at 50p a minute got nowhere (as there arent many options for stuff like this. You have to answer 3897 questions before you speak to someonewhere i put it down).

I've never been able to tax a car on line that has been SORN'd

Post Office Q that stinks of piddle has been the only option
