new insurance law on sorned vehicles

Ok just heard today that this is now law ? if you have a vehicle that is sorned it still has to be insured ? and that it can be taken away ? is this fact ? and how are people going to overcome this with restoration projects etc.
Sorry if this is already covered but I can't find it.

If it is SORN it does not have to have insurance. The law is to make sure all road-going vehicles (taxed) are insured.

Fat lot of good it will do, and it's an outrageous law in the first place to force citizens to purchase incredibly expensive services...
