Are more and more new/company cars breaking down these days or are people actually, seriously using the hard shoulder to take phone calls?

I saw at least FOUR very new repmobiles on the hard shoulder today (oldest being a 59 plate) and in each case the driver appeared to be on the phone.

Forgive me for sonding a little stupid, but perhaps they have broken down and are calling bosses, clients, fleet managers or recovery people.

Fair enough if they were - I just didn't know new cars were that unreliable these days

Bear in mind that a 59 plate repmobile may well be on over 100k miles.

So when you say 'very new', they may be 'young' but they'll have covered more miles in a year than many private owners will in 5.

I passed matrix signs on the M6 today saying, "Check your fuel level," which presumably means a lot of people are so thick they actually need to be told to do that and used to run out of fuel on the motorway when they weren't. A lot of people do trash cars that aren't theirs. I live on a road with speed humps and a lot of people launch their cars into the air going over them at speed. There are some very creaky newish cars around here as a result.

I have a vague recollection of one actually. I think it was dark green. I was going from Blackburn to Speke and back.
