Red diesel

I have a car I been using on the farm and been using red diesel in it, I wondered if there was any way I could dye/bleach the dye out of red so I dont lose my car if I get tugged?

Has anyone ever managed sucessfully to do this, Ive heard stories of cat litter, Fullers earth, Hydrochloric acid etc etc, any help would be great, it seems such a waste to not use what I have of it

Have you tried mixing the diesel with Domestos - that will work for sure.

I assume that the car has never been off the road while it is running on red, and if it is on the road you have registered it as an agricultural vehicle and never exceed 20mph. If that is the case, just change the filters and rinse the tank out. If you have been using it on red when it should be on derv, then I will have no sympathy when HMRC fine you.

It has been used off-road (totally legal btw) using red, anyway I asked if anyone knows how to bleach it, not whether its legal or not i not training to become a solicitor so before I get bombardied with aint got no sympathy etc etc I just asked a totally scientific question and wondered if anyone could answer it in a civil and polite manner

if you have been using it legally, you should be ok. The stuff they use to remove the dye will shag you fuel system.

Just to clarify - are you looking for something that will remove all detectable traces of red diesel from the fuel system of this vehicle, or do you just want to 'clean' the remaining diesel in the tank so you can use it on the road?

Fuel laundering is illegal, and you'll face fines and prison, simple as that. HMRC don't take kindly to running diesel through kitty litter to remove the dye.

Dear oh dear, I just want to know if red diesel can be dyed thats all, (home experiment) no law breaking going on, I know even if dyed it can be detected, so please please stop lecturing me on the law I know the law EXTREMELY well FWIW

Fuel laundering?! is that were you pass the fuel through several engines to disguise its original source?
