Park and Ride - Manchester?

My, admittedly apathetic and lackadaisical, Googling has brought me very little useful information for a lackwit like me. I'm going to Manchester tomorrow, the city centre, and need to park my car.
Most places I tend to use Park and Ride, I spend enough time sitting in traffic when I'm at work - is there a decent one if I drive over from the North East? Or am I better driving in and parking on Deansgate or similar?
Any recommendations much appreciated

Edit: Just noticed that you are coming from the NE.
[-]The trains are the quickest way into the city from the outer suburbs, although The tram from the north and south isn't bad. I would avoid the tram from Eccles as it takes an age to get into the city. The train from Eccles is far, far quicker.
From the west, catching the train somewhere like Irlam would save the drive inside the M60.[/-]
If you are travelling from Yorkshire, live near a station and working in the centre near Piccadilly, I'd get the train.

We don't have park and ride in manchester, best bet from north east is middleton junction on m60, follow signs for city centre, virtually one road into centre,good parking on Boddington's old brewery site which is opposite MEN arena and only £3 all day, 3 mins walk to Deansgate etc. Hope this helps.
Imo there isn't any advantage in P&R for you.
Get on googlemaps and look up the ncb on tib street.
Coming from the north east, come into manc via the m62, m627 and then oldham road.
Follow it all the way to tib st, which is a one way, round a few corners and you're in. Takes maybe 20mins from the m62 and tib st is one of the cheapest car parks in the city centre.

Theres a bunch of aging rockers at the cricket ground tomorrow so it could get busy around 4.
if it was me, come off at j19 and just drive straight into town, after the old boddies brewery go under the bridge and take the very first right then right straight away into the parking place, again its about 4 quid all day but its right on deansgate

The Charles Street car park is what I use on my regular jaunts to Manchester, it's right on the edge of the City Centre and is cheap as chips as it's mainly a University one.
You do get what you pay for, spaces are tight, and it's not very well lit, but so far I've had no incident, it's very easy to get to by road from the North East (try and stay on the A57 rather than going through the centre of the city and you get straight in with no traffic)

Come off the M60 at J17, Whitefield/Prestwich. Head into Whitefield and park here:

If that's full, go another mile into Radcliffe, and park at the Metrolink station there (big car park, free, 24 hour). Then just get the tram in, 15 minutes between them (IIRC), and it'll take about 20 minutes to reach the city centre.
