car dilemma

The wife wants to change her car. We've seen a decent looking mini cooper s at a non-franchised dealer.

It's a 54 plate with 18k on the clock. It has had 2 owners. I contacted the previous owner and he confirmed he had the service done at 10k in 09, and that it wsa his wife's runaround that was barely used.

The catch is that although the first owner purchased the TLC package the book has only had 1 stamp - which was from the 2nd owner.

The online MOT check proves that the mileage is solid, and the dealer is happy to get mini to service it before we buy it.

Part of me is wary because of the lack of stamps, whilst another part of me is thinking 18k miles that can be verified by an online MOT check and a service at 10k means the car has barely been run in.


What would you do?

Sounds fine to me - except that when you sell it on there will be questions asked about the history. Mechanically though it ought to be fine.

It would need to be cheap, I.e. Trade or below on account of the missing history. It's not a rare car, lots of them about that will have been serviced correctly.

I have a deposit on it, and am intending to pick it up this weekend. I thought I'd put it out to the forum to gauge the reaction as I feel relatively comfortable with the verified mileage, plus the wife will probably keep it for several years.
