Putting a private plate on a cat C

I've just bought the GF a TT 225 Quattro, its been catC damaged in the past but repaired by a Audi main dealer so am not worried about that.
She was looking at a plate for it last night and somewhere in the back of my mind (which is quite a scary place) i remember a friend saying he had put a plate on a repaired car and when he wanted to take it off they would not let him!
Had a quick look on the web but couldn't find anything so next step is you guys.

So is this true or should i stop listening to the voices?

Never heard of that one before, but never been asking tbh!
I can't see why they would stop a transfer.

Have you ever tried to call the DVLA on matters regarding number plates? menu after menu after menu then it hangs up on you LOL.

I'd suggest it's bks.

I remember one HPI check on a Porsche 928 coming back with about 4 write offs on all the plates it had had, al of which happened before the plate was on the Porsche
